Split Rail Home Fencing
Tholl Fence offers split rail fencing. It is a traditional form of rail fencing. The older style zig zag split rail fencing dates back to the 1500s in America. It was a popular style of fence that required no nails or hammers to build. This fencing could also be mended very easily. Split rail fencing could be laid over any terrain and was abundant where forests were thick enough to provide the timber.
Today’s split rail fencing is an open, informal, and natural looking fence adapted from the zig zag style. It uses posts and cross pieces to create the rustic look without using as much wood. Cedar is the variety of split rail generally used in Nevada and California. Its rough hewn good looks make it an ideal product for residential and commercial landscaping and decorative fencing.
Wooden Split Rail Fences
Split rail fencing adds the warmth and tradition of country living no matter where you home is located. This fencing is mostly decorative in residential homes, but it is ideal for commercial livestock. This fence is easy to mend if it breaks and replacement parts can always be found.
Though it is treated this fence will deteriorate over time unlike designer fencing, or decorative iron fencing. It’s cost is significantly lower and many split rail fences require only a few days for installation like the chain link fence, and the vinyl fence.
Tholl fence offers split rail fencing in three foot two-rail, and four foot three-rail varieties. We only offer this fencing in two ways; on a materials only or installed basis. We can mend these fences, but we do not stock the parts to do so.
We have a Split Rail standard grade. Our cedar posts come in 4” x 5” and the cedar rails are 2” x 4”
